Character Tracking
Timeline Aware

What It Does

Character State Tracker traces what each character knows, believes, and has experienced at any specific point across your series. Ask questions like "What does Sarah know about the prophecy by Chapter 5 of Book 3?" and get detailed answers.

In complex series with multiple POVs and gradual reveals, it's easy to accidentally have a character reference information they shouldn't know yet. This tool builds a complete timeline of each character's knowledge and experiences, helping you maintain believable character behavior throughout your series.

How to Use It

1

Select Your Series Books

Choose the books in your series. The tool will analyze them in the order you specify to track the character's journey through the narrative.

2

Specify Character & Timeline Point

Enter the character's name and specify when you want to check their state—for example, "end of Book 2" or "Chapter 10 of Book 3". The tool tracks everything up to that point.

3

Explore Character State

Browse through tabs showing the character's knowledge, beliefs (and whether they're accurate), relationships, emotional state, secrets, and overall arc progression up to that point.

What You'll Learn

Knowledge

Every fact the character has learned, when they learned it, and how significant it is to the plot. Never have them reference something they shouldn't know.

Beliefs

What the character believes to be true—including false beliefs—and the basis for each. The tool notes whether each belief is accurate, false, or unknown.

Relationships

Current status of relationships with other characters, their history, and when they last interacted. Essential for multi-POV series.

Physical & Emotional State

Where the character is, any injuries or possessions they have, plus their emotional state, goals, fears, and any recent trauma.

Secrets

What secrets this character holds and who else knows about them. Crucial for maintaining mystery and tension in your narrative.

Character Arc

Track how the character has grown from their starting point, what challenges they've overcome, and what challenges remain.
